Botox
Botox causes the muscles to relax and is useful for fine lines which come on with facial expression.
Botolimum toxin is made by the clostridium botulinum bacteria which is responsible for the diseases botulism where the body is paralysed by the toxin it produces.
The purified toxin can be used in tiny amounts to paralyse or reduce the power of single muscles. It does this by being injected and then stopping the nerve ending working. This then lasts 3-4 months which is the time it takes to grow a new nerve ending back to replace it.
As similar nerves supply the sweat glands it can also be reduced the stop sweating in an area especially where this excessive (hyperhydrosis)

Dermal Fillers
We offer a range of cosmetic treatments, including dermal fillers, to help our patients achieve their desired look.
We use only the highest quality products that contain various forms of cross linked hyaluronic acid. This is normally found in the skin and helps give quality and volume to the skin.
The cross linking makes it last longer. How long it lasts depends on the filler, location and person.
As a guide in places like the cheekbones, chin and jaw it lasts 18-24 months where as in the lips it lasts 6-12 months

Stress Headache Treatment
The toxins ability the relax muscles has been used to treat chronic headaches, migraines and tension headaches. This maybe available again on the NHS and is recommended as one of the treatments on the National Institute for Health and Clinical Governance. We are able to do this if prescribed via your GP or on a private basis

Hyperhydrosis
Similar nerves that supply the muscles fibres also supply the sweat glands and if for events or suffering from excessively sweating in the armpits this can be treated with botox.
It normally consists of 2-3 visits the first to treat the general area and the second to each up any sweat glands that may have escaped. As a result we need enough time between visits to be sure of the effect so if planning for a wedding or another big event, please allow sufficient time for this.

Teeth Grinding, Jaw Spasm, Jaw Reduction
Some people either grind their teeth at night or develop spasms of the muscles in the jaw. Regular botox can reduce the power of teh muscle and stop the spasm and grindingof the teeth

Multiple Sclerosis/ Motor Neurone Disease Muscle Spasm
The Botox toxin can also be used to help treaat the limb muscle spasm produced by multiple sclerosis. The muscles in thebody tend to comein pairs each one balancing each other out. When one of the pairs of muscles are lost or weakened due to disease, it produces spasms and contraction in the other muscle.
The toxin is able to weaken the m uscle more effectively than drugs and without the drowsiness.
This use is recommended by the MS trusts and the MS Society and may be available on the NHS.
Thia treatment is also recommended by MND association and can be used to reduce the saliva production that can occur

The Aesthetics Lodge
The lodge was built in 1807, originally name 'The Lodge' Shinfield Park. It is an unusual square Georgian building in the red 'Reading' brick In around 1830. it was enlarged and encased in Bath stone from the Stoke Hill mine, The present owner is now restoring the lodge to how it always should have looked and modernising it, making it good for the next 200 years.The lodge is gated with off road private parking ensuring your confidentiality and privacy.
